My Daughter

by Marilou Schnaderbeck

Two weeks ago as I was taking my children to school my son asked me what would I do if I were President.  Among a few other things I said I would make it illegal for mothers to end the life of the baby that is inside of them.  Since we had only skirted this topic before because of their age and sensitivities, and knowing that we would reach our destination very shortly, I was a bit apprehensive about how far I should go with this conversation. They of course both wanted to know WHY a mother would do that!  So, I took a deep breath and recognizing the grossly inadequate words I was about to say, I simply stated, “because they don’t love their babies enough”.   They asked a few more questions after which I decided to wrap up the conversation by suggesting that we pray for the women who were planning to end their babies lives today and that they would find enough courage, strength and love to change their minds.  After we prayed, the next couple minutes were quiet as we started to pull onto the long driveway to the school parking lot.  My son opened his door and jumped out once we stopped at the curb…he blew me a kiss and waved goodbye.  My daughter, however continued to sit in the back seat for a moment with her head resting on the window as one would do who was in deep thought…and with an obvious lump in her throat she said in almost a whisper “thank you Mom for loving me enough“…. and she slowly got out of the vehicle and walked down the sidewalk.

The weight of her words left me speechless.

All I can say is WOW!!! Reading that left me speechless. Our children have faith & love beyond what we can see. This proves it. Many people don’t give children enough credit that they can change lives. Once again proving they can and have.
What a tender heart your daughter has. It’s statements like that – that change a nation.

My daughter prayed in the car from our house the entire way until we arrived at her before school care. One of her prayers she thanked God for taking her Grandma in His precious timing. In her words -“so she would not have to watch Grandpa deal with losing his leg, and all the recovery he has had to go through.” She thanked the Lord for His wisdom in dealing with her Grandparents. Knowing that Grandma could not handle the pain of watching Grandpa go through such a thing. She thanked the Lord for Grandpa’s healing and strength. Such wisdom again at such a young age. Our children are gifts.
I pray that women contemplating abortion open their minds & hearts to other solutions. I pray for better education for these women and resources that they can turn to. Most of all for God’s protection on both the babies and the mothers.

I thank the Lord for the ability to love “enough”. I thank the Lord for you and your family.

Thank you for initiating this conversation with your children!!

As a post abortive mom who was coerced into an abortion I hope someday your children will learn from you that 64% of abortions are coerced and many more are forced.

I love my daughter now and have God’s forgiveness for my abortion. I believed the lie the clinic told me. That she was “just a bunch of cells.” I named her Aubrey and would give ANYTHING to back 20 years and turn to real help and support.
